make sure you have plants and some kind of ornament or shelter... and feed him beta flakes or pellets in addition to the blood worms. [[I work at a pet store lol]]
Bettas are not very active fish. If you expect them to swim as much as other tropical fish you will be disappointed. They also don't eat a lot, you shouldn't feed them more than they can eat in 2 minutes then you should scoop up any uneaten food. Make sure your aquarium is warm enough; bettas are tropical fish so you may need a heater to keep them comfy. Blood worms are good for bettas.
if you haven't changed the water in a while, try chaning the water but make sure it is at the right temperature. Beta's like having stuff like plants in the tank with them. If you put a mirror up to the tank most likely it will see it's reflection and be a little more active and try to defend it's territory. don't keep the mirror up all day.. just every once and a whiel
your betta might have backteria on it and you can tell if it has some white stuff on it or any ripped fins

Why doesn't my beta fish eat or swim much?
Send me Fun Mail
My beta that I got about a week ago is just sitting at the bottom of the tank and dont swim around much at all. What can I do to let him have fun and swim around more? Another thing is that he is not eating much. I feed him blood worms. What should I do?
Thanks,
Heath
