How can i get my hair to look big and messy?

ive always tried getting my hair big, and tried the messed up look, but i can never get it right. i have bought hairspray, and a few different producs, but none of them work and i cant seem to get it right.
without me looking like abit of a idiot.

If your trying to get your hair to be big on the top, Id try taking pieces of hair spraying them with hairspray, and then take a come and tease it. If your looking to make your pony tail part of your hair big do the same thing. This works really well to make your hair look like it has more volume to it.

in your hair up in sections and tease it at the roots, be careful not to get the layers on the very top as these will comb over the teased parts to hide to birds nest underneath. Once teased spray it all over and unclip. Pull your top layers over the teased parts and comb down gently.. VOILA!

well i have a peacock sort of style. and what i do is take a dry wash cloth and pretty much give myself a nuggy*. then pull on the hair to make it strait.

it you just want big hair all around do the same thing but brush it over a just a little bit.
then to hold it all in place get a good hair spray like aqua net (super extra hold unscented)
or rave 4(unscented).

you should backcomb it, I have really curly hair with bangs and I usually just leave it. But when im going out I flipmy head over, comb it backwards with a small comb then I flip it back up and do it in sections then hairspray it.. then if I have comb some of the curls out I curl the ends a bit with straighteners!! x x hope this helps!

you could try teasing it, but that hurts sooo much, like bushing it out... so I wouldnt suggest that!
