Mandatory pay raise for congress of 2.8%, or 4700 per year?

So apparently, congress just got a raise…brining the average to 174K per year, which is about triple the national average annual salary.

With rampant unemployment, the biggest financial debacle of the last 70+ years…shouldn’t these guys you know, sacrifice a little to show that they care about the votes who got them there? Or is the policy “rape the masses” once you get into the inner circle?

Answer #1

I believe people with high paying jobs like congress, proffessional athletes and movie stars should take a pay cut the rest of the world is suffering and these people are just plain greedy…

Answer #2

I believe instead of being concerned with ‘looking after the best interests of the American people’, they have chosen to ‘look after me, mine, and certain special interests which I can benefit from but most of all ‘THIS Congressperson’s own interests’ - heck with the little people (their arrogance) - the people keep re-electing these people - mystery to me…sad.

Answer #3

Rape the masses, of course (self interest is alive and well)…not only are the unemployment lines getting long…but Federal and state workers are looking at pay freezes for at least 2 years…You’d they’d be embarrassed to take a raise.
