Well, if you don't have a passport, you won't be able to go to a lot of places. And without a visa, you won't be able to stay abroad.

With todays security, there are many things that can stop you from leaving the coutry. I travel all the time for my job, I am an investigatiove reporter for the Associated Press and sometimes it isn't leaving this country that can ruin a trip, it's the country you want to visit that won't allow you in it. Many countries are mad at us so refuse to allow our citizens in, even for a visit. Check before you leave and make sure the country is friendly toward American citizens.
