Yes, it is. Suicide is a mortal sin. There are circumstances in which it is not sinful, such as someone commiting suicide because they were very depressed or mentally ill. Otherwise, it is sinful.

hell yeah its a sin, its a mager one if you ever want to go to heaven cuz if you kill yourself you have just commited murder and since your the one that is dead you cant ask for forgivness of that murder cuz you murdered yourself!!!

no matter what your reason to commit suicide, it is a sin,
and if you believe in catholicism of any sort, you will live in hell for eternity.
if you are seriously considering suicide, immidietly go see somebody,
there ARE other ways to deal with your issues.

Yes, suicide is a sin. It is usually the sin of despair, of being unable to have hope in God, in a better future. It is a rejection of life as the gift of God, of looking to God to work things out. And, as redhotchic pointed out, it removes the possibility of repentence in this life.

Suicide has been called a permanent solution for temporary problems. Please, if you are considering suicide, pray to God for hope, talk to someone, anyone, and ask for help, even just ask someone to hear your problems so you don't have to carry them alone. Do not cast away the possibility of future joy and good and life just because you cannot see them from where you are.

No i don't think it is, my friend recently killed herself, and yes i miss her, but i don't hate her for it, i love her. She was unhappy and couldn't go on, and i don't blame her.

yes it is a sin and it is one that never can be forgiven...its says so in his word...if you commit suicide then you automatically go to hell...if you are considering it go to someone who can help...talk to someone...or pray about it...if noone else can help you then god can..

by saying its a sin and going by something NONE of you know other than repeating something that was once spoken to you, you are apparently judging a person and saying the deserve to go to hell for commiting an act which they felt would get them closer to god. You see something wrong with what youre saying here? If my friend commits suicide because life was too much to deal with but was begging for forgiveness before he or she even attempted, how is that wrong? if its wrong in your eyes, then your god is diffrent than the one I was looking for. So in other words keep your catholic ways and be happy that you feel superior about yourselves because you go against the moral that holds us all as one.

and also to some, and I will argue the fact also. How is it murder? explain to me how is that murder? some of you say that there is exceptions to the fact and others say that there is no way possible. You people make it sound like you already know what the afterlife brings and make yourselves sound like church goers. BUT!!! none of you know!!! you have no idea whether or not that is true or false. Perhaps your life is the same as if I accidently smeared a mouse on the road. Perhaps your life is the same as an infant being aborted. PERHAPS YOU SHOULDNT JUDGE AND BASE YOUR OPINIONS ON SOMETHING YOU REALLY HAVE NO ROOM TO SAY IF ITS A SIN OR NOT!!!, because you never know. Adolf Hitler maybe a person with wings that might greet you at that front door just for saying you go to hell for commiting suicide Think twice before you speak...
