Is it legal to move out at 16 in Kentucky?

Im 15 and I’ll be 16 in feburary. Things at my house are definantly not great. I get stressed out constantly and all I ever do is cry. I get yelled at all the time and I pay for lots of things already and i clean all the time. I plan on getting a job and staying in school so is it legal to move out in Kentucky if im only 16?

Hi,

The age of majority (legal age you can move out) in Kentucky is 18.

Unless you are legally emancipated (a judge rules that you are no longer a dependent of your parents), you need to be 18 before you can move out without your parents’ permission.

To obtain emancipation, you must prove that you can support yourself financially and get an approval from a judge. Then you legally can not ask your parents for any financial support.
