This question certainly does keep coming up, but I'm not sure that most of the answers on the last, angry 'does God exist?' question will really address what our friend here is asking (I was going to call you by your name, but I'm not calling you ugly or fat, no way, girl!)

So, girl_loved_by_god, I think you will find more relevant answers if you look further back in the last few days. Several people who asked were like you - they want to have faith but feel it's just gone somewhere, and they don't know how to get it back.

One of the things I'd say you should search for are the answers by Christians who say that this kind of 'dry time' is fairly normal. It's something we all get from time to time, and as you look at their answers you will find out how they, as Christians, have kept going in their faith and how God has moved them from their 'desert' to a place where they feel more 'refreshed'.

I believe that's what God wants for you too. I hope that by reading their testimonies you'll see that you may not 'feel' God at the moment, but He is there for you.

I'd say just ask Jesus to show you the way through to Him - read about Him in the Bible, pray (even if you think your prayers are no good, that's not how He sees them!) and trust that He's going to lead you through this.

God bless...

Sure. I don't mind replying over and over, but I hate the pointless arguments which people can get sucked into, which don't really reply to the original question. We all have to really watch out for that, because there are some sincere questioners who don't want to watch everything blow up in their faces. I know you're not one of the pointless argument people, though, texaskimmie. I always appreciate reading what you have to say.

I would say, its great that you have such a feeling. The best way to go is to explore, study and learn more. Reflect and try to get your answers. The world is a HUGE place. Knowledge is an ocean. Its all out there for you to explore and research. I am sure if you take some effort to find out you'll definitely succeed.

True faith is like a strong tree whose trunk is strong and whose expanse is tremendous, it soars strong into the sky and not even a storm can shake it. On the other hand, false faith is like a weak and withered tree. A mild breeze would stir it up and uproot it completely.

Belief from hear-say would just make you as the later.

God exists in the mind of people; possibly the biggest lie ever. you can deside if you want to have faith in something that actually doesn't exist, just like when you were a little kid and your parents told you about santy clause

You believe in what you believe in! But I believe that he is real, that he gave us life! That he made the world in seven days! Hwen you have a wreck and you survive and you dont know how thats not just luck thats him protecting you, because he has a plan for you and he wants you to fullfill that plan! Hey, who knows, you might be the one in the future to change the world somehow!!!

Where did this 'theory' come from? Did God tell people? No. People made it up. You believe something people made up over 2,000 years ago?
Scientist now have the ability to solve crimes. They also now have the ability to come up with more accurate theories.

I am standing up for whats right and I disagree with beautifulmasquerade, They just in recent years found out how to solve crimes that happened way-back-when, and the bible has been around even before you or maybe your great-grandma was born, hey, maybe even before that! And if people made this up they must have been able to see into the future, because everything the bible tells you in revalations is happening right now!!! Tha end of the world is coming, so you choose if you want to hear the call of the trumpet!

here's the way I see things. if someone can legitimately answer these questions without using the bible, I will believe in god.

-If God created everything, how was God created?
-If God is really omnipotent, he would create perfect beings. If he created perfect beings, why does sin exist?
-Why did God create humans intellectually superior yet we say all God's 'children' are equal?
-If God meant for Adam and Eve to set an example of being straight, did he also mean to create the example of incest?

God has always been, he created the universe, he blesses us every day and protects us from the most evil things. If you dont believe in God then how was the universe created, where did you come from? How could something so complex just appear? Think about it and theres no contest.

There is science to explain how I got here. God could not have just appeared one day out of the blue. where did he come from? you also did not give me legit answers for the omnipotent, adam and eve, or the superior humans questions. if you would like I am more than happy to explain how I got here, but if you don't care I won't post it because it is very long to explain because of its complexity.

We can't really answer any of these questions without refering back to the bibble I'm afraid, that is where are knowledge as christians comes from. He didn't create perfect beings just innocent sinless ones. When we say all of gods children are equal we mean in his eyes. Adam and Eve didn't commit incest because they weren't related.

okie, yes, it was all made up 2000 years ago, but, it gives people hope and happiness and something to believe in. and I believe in God and Jesus and the shebang, but I am also open to evolution and stuff, I mean there is physical evidence of evolution am I supposed to ignore that? no. I choose what to believe in and it works for me. but also keep this in mind, science doesnt know every thing, it is continuosly being explored. there is a quote that says if your wise, then you KNOW you know NOTHING. that way, your continuosly learning. its all up to you, how you feel about things and stuff. I choose to believe in God, it is fine with me and my friends too. and actually I have a friend who does not believe in God at all, she believes in something entirely different and im fine with that, the point she believes in a higher authority still. she looks up to someone/something. and I also have a friend whos life is commited to God. he loves God and accepts him in his daily life. its just who your are, believe what you want, we cant stop you. good luck with finding yourself.

I understand your struggle. God wants you to look for answers. Keep searching and God will eventually reward your search with answers. Pray to Him and tell him that you are confused and want some answers about Him. God wants you to be honst with Him about how you feel. I went though the same thing. It took a while, but I finally realized that God really is real, really knows me, and really does have a plan for me. He does for you too. Look for it and you'll find it.
You might try the book 'Evidence that Demands a Verdict'. It's written by a lawyer who went abou to disprove the existance of God. He ended up proving the existance of God to himself!

thekangaroo asks :: If God created everything, how was God created?

A:: God created everything. Before God created everything,
Nothing existed.Hence the knowledge of how was God
created cannot be with everything. It can be with God
alone as nothing existed before God !! You see, so the
answer to this question can be with God alone. But he is
not your roommate to just call up and ask. He is the creator
of everything. We can just hypothesize or listen to what God
says !! But that requires belief !!

A :: God is really omnipotent. He could create perfect beings.
perfect does include not sinning !! but people do sin => beings
are not perfect. True. You cannot claim that since God is
omnipotent he should create perfect beings. Thats not rational.
Its His will. Isn't it ?

the kangaroo asks :: Why did God create humans intellectually superior yet we say all God's 'children' are equal?

A :: What are you trying to compare ? I don't understand your question.
You say that God created 'humans intellectually superior'. Ok . This
means that all humans are intellectually superior. Right. Hence they
are equal. Isn't it ? In that case, where is the inequality. If you are meaning
(I take the liberty to assume) that some humans are intellectually superior
and some inferior. Why ? I would answer that question in two ways as
follows:
- All of humans (I won't call them God's children !!) are created with
differences as I answered your second question. A second answer
would be - they are all created with equal intellectual ability but they
use their ability with their own freewill as different levels. I mean all
of us have the same brain Einstein had. But he used it more than
we do based on our freewill.

I can say that zmarsh has given you the right answer from the Christian
perspective - In the sight of God.

your first question (God is Omnipotent !! ).

motowin: yes, I understand that, but adam and eve had childen who then populated the world. this would involve incest between children and parents or between siblings.

also you did not understand my questions. if god created humans intellectually superior like you just agreed, then god did not in fact create all equal because that would put humans unequal to other animals.

you have yet to understand any of my questions and yet you seem to answer them so confidently. perhaps this is similar to the way you do not understand other belief systems and still insist you are right.

**Before God created everything,
Nothing existed.Hence the knowledge of how was God

so you are saying you don't have an answer for that one.

**They were not related (as in they
were not born of the same parents).**

I know that. but they had children together and if they populated the world that involves incest between siblings or parents and children.

**Its His will. Isn't it ?**

I suppose it is, but I cannot imagine what god would create his beings to do one thing then tell them they are wrong.

**'humans intellectually superior'. Ok . This
means that all humans are intellectually superior. Right. Hence they
are equal. **

but he created every other animal inferior. if you would like to say that is equal, go for but it would be wrong.

hopefully in the future you won't fail to understand what I am asking and what answer I am looking for.

Thunder Robot Answered by funadvice on Jan 22, 2008, 10:19PM

I have been on both sides of this issue. I was raised in a strict Christian environment, completely believing that our conception of God was absolute and everyone else was wrong. When I got away from that, I generally went in between being atheist and agnostic, it flip flopped around quite a bit. On either side I would express my opinion with a kind of heavy handed arrogance and hostility, unable or unwilling to open my mind to the opposing view. Where I am now, through different life experiences and so on, I believe that there is something bigger than us. What that is I don't know. Maybe it is an energy that connects everything, maybe even some type of deity, maybe something beyond our comprehension. Science has shown that our minds are only capable of processing a very small amount of the information that surrounds us. What we see as reality, the truth, etc. is a very limited thing. Point being that the hostility this topic usually invites and the countless wars and death over this argument makes as much sense as strangling somebody you love beacause you disagree what color an unborn childs eyes are going to be. I'm not finger pointing here, I have no room to. But just because I can relate to the argument doesn't mean it's not insane. I love life. I am grateful for it regardless of where it came from or where it ends. The spiritual quest or the perception of life or whatever we want to call it is such an individual thing that it is interesting to discuss but crazy to try to force on anyone.

I don't want to unnecessarily argue over this and make it personal. I have said what I had to say. But since you have asked, I'll give some clarification:

Q1). My answer was that its not only me, but even you or anyone else for that matter cannot have an answer to that question - if you think logic, God was created first and no one has spoken to God and hence don't know the answer. I have understood your question. But I am trying to say that no one can have an answer to that based on the above logic. Hence there is no point searching for an answer to that.

in hammetshwand Answered by motowin on Jan 24, 2008, 01:15AM
| 72 answers.

Q4). I was answering considering that you were refererring to the relationship between Adam and Eve (Eve's creation from the rib thing). Anyway thats not the point I guessed. But it wasn't clear from your question. In any case, this is an absurd relationship. Incest is a definition which needs clarification. Think about it. As we are all children of Adam we are all commiting incest isn't it ? Well no. What I can suggest is that there is a bloodline of generation which is used to define incest. It fades into infinitesimality over time and with reducing people. If I would quantify it, I would make it an exponential relationship as follows:

Let,
o I = Incest factor
o G = generations backwards from your current geneality (G belongs to Z+).
o P = Population iterator (universal growh factor - belongs to Z+ again).
o Y = Years from the time of Adam (again belongs to Z+).

Then, I = A + Bexp(CY/GP) (A, B and C are some scaling constants)

You may want to add more parameters/constants to scale this. We may want to use this factor to define incest. Hence in summary, to 'keep it simple and stupid - KISS' I would say that it was not incest which was being committed at that time.

There is also an alternate solution to the above question as you may consider very favorably as an atheist- very simply assume that Adam did not exist at all and people were created out of the blue as a bunch and they grew their own families separately. Still the question remains, we don't know which family we belong to at this time and we may be committing incest.

Q2. thekangaroo says about God's will:: ''I suppose it is, but I cannot imagine what god would create his beings to do one thing then tell them they are wrong.''

- You don't need to exercise your imagination here. God may have created his beings to do one thing but has not forced them to do that. As I already explained He has given us a thing called freewill. It is all just like a test.

God is omnipotent and He could have created perfect beings. But He did not create perfect beings (read your question again). The scheme is like this - He create human beings, gave them time to operate (freewill) and is seeing which one's do 'the one thing'. I'll try to explain it simply - Its like in a system design. You have the power to create the most complex, perfect automobile engine. But you don't do it (you are potent here). You create designs with some engines better in mileage, some better in speed and some in acceleration. Then you put them to test in a ground. You then choose the best one which suits your criterion (You are potentate here but you dont create perfect engines. Its your will)

Q23). thekangaroo says: ''Why did God create humans intellectually superior yet we say all God's 'children' are equal? ''

thekangaroo also says:: '' .. but he created every other animal inferior ..''

- This is my personal favorite. I avoided picking on it earlier, but if you want it here you go. God created humans intellectually superior but hey where did the animals come from ? I thought children meant only humans !! I can now advice one thing (not judge you as usual ) .. If you make your questions more sensible and understandable, its would be easy for people to understand. Right >>> now, ask this question to a layman on the street and ask him what do you mean by 'children'. I got the answers from this experiment I conducted on some people around me. They all said that children means humans. Hence in my previous answer I was trying to explain the equality in humans.

Nevertheless, since you have asked, equality as I already mentioned means equality in the 'sight of God'. Hence [QED]

thought you might want to read this from a previous similar argument. thanks to funadvice

***If all of the energy and matter that existed before the Big Bang was contained in this
‘speck’, and energy and matter cannot be created, where did all of the millions and
millions of galaxies come from. It is impossible according to science for this to have
happened.***

The 'speck' you're referring to is actually called a singularity, and it was formed during
a process called a vacuum fluctuation. A singularity is a single point of convergence
of temperature, pressure, and other forces...this single point is the state the universe
was originally in, and it was very dense and hot. It cooled during expansion.

So where did the singularity come from? First let's get one thing straight. Based on
quantum physics, we now know there is no such thing as 'nothing'. Even in a perfect
vacuum, there are still virtual particles on a quantum level being created and destroyed.
The laws of thermodynamics you talk about describe things on a level you and I are at. But
at the quantum level, things are different. Particles spontaneously appear and disappear,
and as strange as that sounds, it's absolutely been proven because we've observed the
effects of these particles. So quantum fabric will produce
these particles in random, unpredictable fashion. A short time later, these particles,
which exist in pairs, will destroy each other and the process will begin again.
The energy to create them comes from the vacuum itself, and this is where you need to
understand something else. A vacuum is actually in a curved shape, and this curved shape
contains energy in the form of gravity. A Black Hole is a vacuum, where the curvature is
so sharp that nothing can escape it's gravitational pull. Black Holes also offer a strong
arguement for the Big Bang. Because if you have a pair of particles appear, and one gets
pulled into the Black Hole, now you have its partner particle without an antiparticle to
destroy it. And now it's here to stay.

I'm not making this up. It's part of quantum physics, which is something that is hard to
wrap your mind around, but is real and shattering how we think about the world around us.
I suggest you do some research, because quantum physics explains how the universe, effectively,
came from 'nothingness'.

***Science says that in the first billionth of a second (or thereabout) after the Big Bang,
all of the matter that was supposed to have been created, was thrown out into space so
fast, that 4 billion years later, we can detect with a radio telescope, the energy of
this event.***

Again, matter wasn't 'thrown out'. When the singularity began to expand because of the
pressure vaccuum around it, it also rapidly, rapidly cooled off. Everything was homogenous
at first, but gradually gravity forced clumps of dark matter together, and these became
the building blocks of protogalaxies. A galaxy is mostly dark matter after all, and a star
is formed from clouds of condensing gasses. All of this is possible in a place where you've
got gravity (negative energy) and matter (positive energy) to interact. ANd by the way,
if the universe isn't expanding, how do you explain the fact that all galaxies are
continuously moving outward, a phenomenon that has been observed?

***Darwin, because he had no scientific background he didn’t have the credentials to be making any theories. ***

The theory of evolution has come a long way since Darwin, and refuting his Origin of Species
no longer means you have refuted evolution. Did you know that only two continents (Europe and North America) have been
thoroughly excavated for fossils? Can you imagine how many more fossils will be found
once Asia and Africa, the Earth's two largest land masses, have been excavated? We may very
well find a large number of 'missing links' in those places.

***It was the discovery of the Cambrian fossils that ultimately led to the demise of Darwin’s infamous theory.***

Far from it. The Cambrian Explosion you refer to was not the sudden appearance of multiple
species. We know from recently discovered fossil evidence that bilaterian organisms
existed prior to this, meaning there were moderately complex life forms even before the
Cambrian era. ANd while there was certainly a rapid rise in the disparity of species
during this period, there are several explanations as to why this happened, such as a rise
in the EArth's oxygen levels, the end of an Ice Age, etc. Besides, this era lasted
over a very long time.

***Intellectualizing is a known defense mechanism for psychologically distancing yourself
from another person. You talk in terms that cannot be completely understood by the
“unitiated” or “ignorant” and the conversation or situation quickly dissipates.***

Yeah. You know what else you can do? Make arguements about theories that you're simply
too lazy to study and thoroughly understand. That's also fairly common.

None of your arguements discredit the theories of evolution or the Big Bang, which are
widely accepted by the vast majority of astrophysicists, microbiologists, etc. Nor do
your arguements give any substantial proof of the existence of God.

I might ask you a few questions. Has God always existed? How do you know this? The
Bible says 'In the beginning...' and then describes the existence of God but gives no
explanation for how he got there. Why is God gender specific? And why did he create the
cosmos only to see his project fail?

Thats a nice excerpt. But Irrelevant. I am not arguing about those points or in that thread.. Just advising on the questions you asked and the question in this thread..

I do believe in the big-bang. Evolution ? hmm..I still have my doubts !! These arguments only make my faith stronger that God IS there for a long time even before anything was created and knows a lot more than we mortals do !!
Nevertheless. we could also look at this question from another cute angle.

Why is God not real or more crisply put ::

Q. prove me that there is no God ?

oh btw...I wanted to share an interesting article I read at a nuclear physics institute recently (but I don't remember it completely though) - Light has a finite velocity of travel and it has been able to travel to only an extent through the Universe. Thats why we are able to see the Universe up to only a few exponential light years and we have not seen its farthest limit (termination point) .. and light is still traveling and newer and newer things are being brought to our (minute ) understanding. There were nice illustrations there. very good.

Since you C-c C-v..I have also taken my privilege .thanks to good ol funadvice again. Quote from 'http://www.funadvice.com/q/is_there_a_god'

***You havent said anything about the scientific evidence. Why?***

...why should I? Science can't DISPROVE God's existence, no more than that book can PROVE God's existence.

motowin says :: Play it even. If you can't disprove with more credibility than the proof, I would see more logical in going with the favored scale. Choose your side. No issues. Its a free world. After all its you who are responsible for yourself and no one has that responsibility to 'make you believe !'. The job is to only convey the message / discuss the idea

I have another nice plan. If you can't disprove with more credibility than proof, I would say, play it safe. Believe. If you find out that there is God in the end, you'll be saved. If there isn't one. You have nothing to lose isn't it just like a game now.. lol..Thats what many have been doing.

of course GOD is real!!
**TO THE KANGAROO**

if There is no GOD, then how do you explain the mathematical coding of the Quran. The Quran was mathematically coded around the number 19 to prove that this scripture is ligit ! If even one letter is taken out o fit, then it is not the same anymore! If you disagree with this then create just one chapter like this. If you think you cant (which you cant) tell some one smarter (even as smart as Einstein). They wont be able to.

What the robot said. If there are any gods, they certainly have not revealed themselves to us in any credible way. It's almost as if they didn't exist! Hmmm.

God is absolutely Real! I mean seriously, who made the Heavens and the Earth? 'It sure wasn't me.' You know, just try it sometime...when you are alone and confused, just go somewhere where you can be alone with God...He is everywhere...you say you go to church! ANd if so, I'm pretty sure You have called on His name to come into your life right?
WEll anyway, what I'm trying to say is that! If you want to know if he's real...just find a place where you can talk to him...just like you wrote on here! Say it, like if you were talking to me or to your good friend face to face in private...like communicating to someone you trust! 'God is Listening.' And you can surely trust God! Just try it... talk to him, cry out to him, let him know how you feel and just tell him to help you understand...and you know what? You will feel him, you will feel this peace come over you, you will know that he is real, because he's within you...It doen't matter what everyone thinks! God is truly good...He is your Father if you want Him to be...if is your friend, your advisor, and ultimate helper...he hears you when you call...He's like an invisible friend, and he always is the one saying good things about you, the one that is always trying to help you feel good about yourself! Don't let confusion, evil, and lies get you down! Heraeally is real and gives confidence!

Hope this has helped!

Ez

Well I can assure you God is real and he is with you right now! Do not allow satan to steer you away from the only thing that is true and real! I know Jesus because he is in my heart, I asked God to help me when my life became so unbearable. The moment I prayerfully went on my knees and cried out aloud, Lord Help me I can not do this on my own! I asked him to guide me to the real faith the true church where I could worship him. From that moment my life was changed he took hold of my life and guided me in my studies, work marriage and life has been so sweet from that day. Do not give up on God cause he would never give up on you!!!

okay, here's the thing, I would really like actual evidence.

the bible is not actual evidence. it means about the same to me as a mother goose book proves the existence of peter pan.

how yuo feel when you are alone is not actual evidence. it is a creepy sort of mind trick.

a piece of cloth from decades upon decades is not actual evidence. science has dated it to contradict the bible.

what people tell yuo in church is not actual evidence. its like story time at the childrens library.

I cannot comprehend how any person can believe that a woman was impregnated by a spirit, gave birth to a man-god who died, came back to life, died again, and then ascended into the sky.

the idea that people worship a being who kills people with horrible diseases, murder, and mind games is terrifying.

the very idea that we all came from the same two perfect white stereotypical beings is mind boggling.

that one being created everything in the world and is actually resentful enough to destroy it someday although nobody can explain where this thing that created everything came from confuses me like nobody can imagine.

if there is a god I would very much like proof. ACTUAL EVIDENCE. the fact that nobody can provide that proof is no surprise to me.

In regards to the 'who created the universe' type responses...what's so wrong with the idea that the universe simply exists uncreated, and that 'something' has always existed?

Even if God does exist I still wouldn't waste my life going to Church and praying and doing all those things that Christians do. Don't let a theory control your life. Just be yourself and enjoy life while you can. God, whether he is real or not, is not important. You are.
