Is brown sugar vegan/vegetarian?

Hi im a vego and I read a website and it said that cane sugar sometimes uses bone char to give it the white colour. So I wanted to know if brown sugar is fine.

Most brown sugar is white sugar with a little molasses added so it is just as likely to be filtered through animal bones as white sugar..

There is a product called 'Sugar in the Raw' that is not filtered and is indeed vegan. This would be a good substitution for brown sugar if you want to be sure your sugar is vegan. There are also specialty sugars marketed for vegans.
