Why does ink smell weird?

when i write on a paper and i put my nose closer to the written ink it smells funny

Answer #1

There are few ingredients in pen ink: The vehicle (what makes the ink dry quick), dyes, (which makes the ink darker and more readible).

If it is a black pen, carbon is used to get the true black color. (most likely where the smell comes from)

Additives are put in to stabilize the mixture and give ink a desirable effect, such as “gel pen” or “glitter” effects.
