Why should I believe in god?

I think that Religion is like the worlds largest book club. I dont see why it should be important. Other than being a good person I dont see the importance in the rest of the Bible, I see a bonch of non-sence. Why should I belive in God?

Answer #1

You don’t have to. People have different beliefs. Most people will say they don’t wanna see you in “hell” according to the Bible… I also think the Bible makes no sense either. There’s just so much hypocrisy, violence, and hatred, now what’s so holy about that? Especially concerning a “devil”. Like people say, the Bible is the “oldest” book alive…

Okay then, then the Bible doesn’t apply to today. Which makes total sense. Also, the Bible has been misinterpreted so many times, sheesh. I say that it’s all about belief, and you should practice what you believe.

Hope I helped. -Blessed be. )0(

–One reason many people believe in a Higher Power is to stop believing they are personally the center of the universe.–

Hello!? It is theists who think they’re the center of all god’s attention, who claim god’s working in their lives, while there are people living in poverty on the other side of the world.

The bible is faith in the world as described by ignorant nomads- god’s an outdated and ignorant concept developed by people who didn’t even know what the flippin’ sky was.

–Why should I believe in god?–

If you don’t want to believe in god, then you shouldn’t.

There is no truth to the mythology, just faith and delusion.

Answer #5

Well, of course no one will make you believe in anything…But my question why are you asking? you obviously are curious about it somewhat?

I personally am a christian, I have learned over time what it means to be a christian and what the true meaning of the Bible is. I believe the Bible has been mistranslated I don’t believe in the trinity what so ever. God is God and that is it.

What you believe in has to come from you and if you are curious enough you will go and find out what the truth is. If you have any questions let me know.

Hope I answered your question. =)

Answer #6

One reason many people believe in a Higher Power is to stop believing they are personally the center of the universe. Selfishness leads to unhappiness. Whenever you reach out to other humans or animals or nature and put their needs before your own, you’ve attained the Highest Power deep within yourself. But of course, you should lavish love on both yourself and others to attain serenity.

Erm… Marie… when I look around at the world, see a new born baby, a beautiful sky or mountains… I think of science… because it has been proven how they came to existance… none of them have anything to do with God.

I don’t believe in God… so I guess I’m going to be damned to hell for the rest of eternity for not believing… greeeatt… and God would let his ‘beloved children’ be condemned to an eternity of suffering whyyy???

Answer #8

That is a decision you will have to make, no one should make it for you. Of course you can and should discuss various aspects of the subject with others.

Personally, religion makes sense as a philosophy of behavior. A guide on how society can improve. But as far as some sort of capital-T ‘Truth’ ? In my book it fails. And much of the credit for that failure is Religion’s own insistence that the holy book is the sole purveyor of truth, when to my mind it so obviously is full of contradiction and fallacies. As George Carlin famously said about his childhood religion of Catholicism, “Catholics – which I was, until I reached the age of REASON.” [My emphasis.] I feel if you are religious, you just have to take it on faith. Good Luck!!

Answer #9

Have you ever seen a new born baby, or looked up at the beautiful sky, or seen the mountains… or been to a beautiful lake or beach? That’s why I believe in God because of all the beauty I see all around me. And you can love and believe in God without being a bible beater…

Answer #10

beleive what you shall, if it shall not harm others

Answer #11

You don’t have to believe in God if you don’t want to. I don’t…

Answer #12

There is no should or shouldn’t in regard to belief in deities. You either find the idea convincing, or you don’t.

Answer #13

Nothing says that you HAVE to believe in a god.
