I eat because I am not satisfied

well, okay I am over weight like not FAT like over 200 pounds
I weigh around 150 pounds..
okay the problem is I dont eat because I am hungry, I can be full, and I just eat because I feel better..its like, if I dont eat am not satisfied, I have an URGE to eat when I am not hungry, what can I do about this ??

First, good on you for realising that you want to do something about it. You recognise your eating habits aren't good, and you want to change that. Big ups to you.

First up, look into whether there's an 'overeaters anonymous' meeting near you. It sounds a little cliche, but these groups can help you discuss and figure out why you fall into this cycle.

Second, when you're full, recognise that, and instead of reaching for something else to eat, make a point of doing something else: try going for a walk, painting, dancing, talking to a friend, cleaning your room... anything that can keep you busy. If you can keep yourself busy for a few hours until you're next feeling a bit hungry, you're doing good.

Don't be afraid to pick up something new- maybe take a course in something you're interested in, or dedicate yourself to some volunteers work. If you get yourself motivated, you will feel more positive, and perhaps feel less of a need to be satisfied by food.

yeah I do that too.for me tho, its a comfort thing.I feel empty inside so I eat to try and fill it. it just ends up making me feel worse tho.

Everytime you feel the urge to eat when your not hungry, chew a piece of gum. it will make your body feel like it's eating when your not actually eating anything. Also try drinking water, it's healthy for you and it tricks your body in the same way. Careful though, then you have to pee a lot.

but eat healthy...
when you have the urge to eat, go for the oranges, apples, grapefruit, and so on...
instead of junk...
