The same thing happens to me. Whenever someone compliments me, I think that they're being sarcastic and I'm not sure how to react.
I usually just say "Thanks, you too." if it's a question can be answered with that response, lol.
You can't neccessarily always tell when someone's kidding, they'll usually say it with more of a sarcastic tone and they'll act very fake, or even overly-happy.
If they are kidding, just say "Oh, well this just shows how much of a (fill in the blank) you are."
...Or, you can just walk away.
I'm not very sure if this could help you or not, I'm only 14, and I'm not very good with helping people.
Sounds like low self confidence... It isnt about telling whether a compliment is real or not, but believing that you truly are pretty (or whatever else they say). I'd say you need to work on your self esteem. The rest will work itself out. You need to believe it first. And then it wont matter what other people think, or whether they're just making fun of you. You'll know what your own self worth is and be able to say screw what anyone else thinks...

How to tell if a compliment is real.
Whenever I recieve a compliment I think the person is kidding. I think people think I'm rude because usually when they give me a compliment I walk away. I honestly think they are kidding though, and it actually hurts my feelings. Like when people say I'm...
pretty I have a feeling they are going to turn around and laugh with all their friends. And when guys ask me out I NEVER believe them, so most get all confused. My friends say I have serious self confidence issues, but I was teased a lot when I was younger. How can I tell if some one is actually kidding?
