I would explain how you managed to accidentally throw whatever it was at your teacher in the letter. If it was really an accident you should explain how it happened and not apologize for doing it, since it wasn't your fault.

I,ve had this problem before but never had to apologize because I never got caught.if I were you I'd write a letter apologizing I would need to sound sincere and mean every thing I say so when she reads it she'll understand.explain how it couldnt be you and still say iam sorry though.

If she knows it was you who threw the item, why don't you just talk to her after class or something? A letter would be really awkward don't you think? When you talk to someone face to face you get to see their reaction right away and then you can discuss rationally and put the incident in the past.

Well, if your teacher's a nice person, you could make a comic out of it.. like draw you throwing it at her, then the next slide, could be like in large letters, "NO!" xD

I don't know. But yeah, if she's not as nice, just write a sweet note saying your sorry and felt terrible about what you did and that you'll never do it again. :]

Advice from a future teacher...no comics...

It's a cute idea for something a little less serious (and even so, should probably be reserved for a teacher that you're really extremely close to), but throwing stuff is something that could get you into serious trouble and it'd be best not to make light of it. You could have seriously injured that teacher even if you didn't mean it.

Just be honest and sincere in your letter. Explain that it wasn't meant to hurt her and it will never ever happen again. Point out what you did wrong and how you'll fix it. And for heaven's sake, APOLOGIZE. Even if you didn't mean it...you need to still say you're sorry. It is something that she's expecting from you. You may even want to offer to do something for her to make up for it. She'll probably say it's okay, but she'll be quick to forgive if you offer some sort of restitution for it.

My guess is that if you write a letter, your teacher will just ask to see you after class anyway and you'll end up talking to her face to face anyway. It may be best to just go up to her after class and do it in person...that way, you skip the letter step and you'll probably sound a lot more sincere.

Don't worry too much about it though. It's my opinion that if she's any kind of teacher, she'll be more interested in the fact that you are going to apologize and you know you did wrong and will be much more careful next time, than the fact that you hit her...
