Like most diets and excersice programs, do them under the supervision of your doctor to make sure you're doing okay. Try that Alli stuff. It's the only dietary supplement (diet pill) out there that is FDA approved. I would cut out most carbs and sweets and eat more fruits and vegetables. My sister lost almost 80lbs in 6 months buy just eating between 800-1000 cals a day and going to the gym and riding on the eliptical for an hour or two. I don't recommend her method for you because people that are a tad heavier need a bit more to eat to get their energy up to exercise. I recommend eating about 1200 cals a day, taking alli, and exercising (lifing weights, eliptical, etc) and maybe even pilates. Exercise on what makes you comfortable but just don't over do it. If you need any more advice let me know. I need to follow my own advice because I am no size 2 or even 12 lol. Yeah...I need to lose a lot too. good luck.
How to LOSE weight?
First, determine from the information below, what your weight should be. Then set yourself goals of a week, 2 weeks, a month, 3 months, 6 months and a year. As you see yourself meeting your goals it becomes easier. Remember, you didn't gain your weight overnight so don't expect to lose if overnight. Plus, weight lost slowly is more likely to stay off than weight lost in a hurry.

How can I Lose 1 pound of body weight per week?
One pound of body fat is equal to about 3500 calories. So to lose 1 pound of weight per week, you need to eat 500 calories/day LESS than you burn.
But it's not a good idea to lose weight simply by cutting calories. As well as decreasing calories you should increase your daily physical exercise. This helps to burn calories and build more lean tissue which in turn burns more calories.
What should a minimum calorie intake be?
As a guide to minimum calorie intake, the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) recommends that calorie levels never drop below 1200 calories per day for women or 1800 calories per day for men. Even these calorie levels are quite low.

Another thing that helps to lose weight is to always eat a good breakfast. That helps to jump start your metabolism which helps start burning calories. Also, try to drink 8 eight ounce glasses of water every day. One before every meal (except breakfast) and before all snacks. That helps curb your appetite which helps reduce caloric intake.

Walking is the best way to shed off pounds. A good way to start dieting though is to keep the food that you already have but every week cut it down by 1/5, you will BARELY notice if at all. Once you reach a normal calorie intake keep that diet going. Furthermore start a weight loss support group on this site, its better when you are doing it with friends.
taking pills is not going to solve your problems, I know I have been and done that. I am over weight my self and the only thing that is going to help is a life style change. Eating better and staying at 1,500 calories. I wouldnt go any lower than that you run the risk of always being hungry. maybe even 1,800 calories. a lot of excersie and common sense. Eating a bag of potatoe chips and then saying that you will get back on your change is not enough. I have to be hard on my self too. thanks amber
I too weigh just short of 300lbs.
I have done a few things in the past 2 weeks to change my lifestyle and so far have already lost 8lbs:
1. Join a gym. I go to the YMCA and walk on the treadmill for 35 minutes every single day.
2.Have a support person. My husband and I are changing our lifestyles together.
3.Get the Wii Fit. It helps you to stay on track and measure your weight and BMI. Also, the excercises are fairly simple and will get you off the couch.
4. Throw out all the junk food in your house. Every bit of it. Go shopping and spend a lot of time in the produce dept. Fresh veggies, fruit are helathy low-cal items to eat when you are hungry.
5.Buy the Eat This, Not That books. Read cover to cover take to the grocery store to help you choose healthy options.
6.Don't beat yourself up if you have a bad day. Just go right back to your healthy eating excericise the next day. We all have times that make diets difficult. The main thing is to not give up!
7. Stop eating fast food- empty calories that ake you tired after eating. I have committed myself to only eat Subway (5 grams of fat or less)for lunch. Plenty of veggies and lean chicken or turkey.
8.Get a George Forman grill. Best easiest meal:
Grilled lean pork chop seasoned with lemon pepper, cut up fresh tomatoes on the side, and cantelope melon for desert.
Good luck, keep at it! I know you can do it!
