I have heard pouring bleach down your drains helps. I myself washed down my kitchen in bleach, water and baking soda. This is instructions for getting rid of yellowing stains on counters and it helped me get rid of the knats too. Here are the instructions for it; 1/2 cup of bleach, 1/4 cup of baking soda and 4 cups of water. Apply with a sponge and let set for ten minutes. Rinse and dry thoroughly.

Use a small empty yogurt container, fill half way with apple cider vinegar. Cover with saran wrap and secure with a rubber band to make saran taunt enough to punch a few holes in saran wrap. Sit on counter top and watch them drown themselves.
