How fast can BC regulate period?

I am almost done with my first pack of BC pills. I have really irregular periods. I usually go at least 6 weeks until my next period. I am NEVER regular. I had my period 4 weeks ago and I started bleeding yesterday and I figured I was just spotting. This morning I woke up and realized it was heavy like my normal period. Did the BC regulate my period that fast or is something else going on? I mean I still have 2 pills left in my first pack so I haven’t even been taking them a month yet. What do you think?

BC pills will start to regulate your period right away. Understand that there are two kinds of pills in all 28-pill packs (which is most brands). They are usually two different colors. 21 of them are hormone pills and 7 of them are sugar pills. The sugar pills are there so that you keep in the habit of taking one pill a day, so the last 7 days of your pack will correspond to when you have your period.

Since you are new to BC pills, let me give you a word-to-the-wise. You have to realize that if your doctor puts you on antibiotics for any reason, it will lower the effectiveness of the BC pills, so you will have to take extra precautions to guard against pregnancy. Most women that say they became pregnant while on the pill, did so due to drug interaction (like above) or because they missed a day or two.

Good Luck!!
