You burn calories by doing any kind of activities, including sleeping. I suppose standing in the cold helps you burn more calories because you tend to fidget a lot. I wouldn't try to lose weight by doing that, though.

It doesn't really
One thing you should never do is eat alot of food and then go to sleep.
After you eat food wait 1 hour and then run around, swim, walk, skip,ect.

Shivering does burn calories. Not a lot; perhaps a few hundred calories/hour. Most people would rather exercise than try to burn calories this way.

drinking ice cold fluids helps to burn calories because you have to work to get the fluid to a decent temp. once iyour mouth. Not many calories but ore than what you would if you were to drink something room temp.. I actually found that on a medical website. As far as standing in the cold..IDK.

well what i learned in my science class was that when standing in the cold the body excerts energy(calories) from the body in order to reach its equilibrium.
