Hi,
First, make sure you are uninstalling from the add/remove programs panel in Windows (Control Panel -- add/remove programs).
If the programs' uninstallers are leaving extra files, there are free cleanup programs you can download. I haven't used them so I can't vouch for any of them, but here is a list I found.

I got lime wire and stuff like that and I uninstall them but somehow they are not all gone....how do I get rid of excess files........?
