sports are life Asked by andrew94 2 months ago, 2 answers.

My computer is slow as hell! this is because of all the files on it. I cannot find the uninstall disc to get rid of any of the programs/files, is there any other way to get rid of these programs??

1.) If a program has it's own uninstall link, use that. With well behaved programs, the uninstall loads as part of the program. To find it go to 'Start' / 'All Programs' / then find the program you want in the list and see if it has the uninstall option.
2.) Go to 'My Computer' / 'Control Panel' / 'Add or Remove Programs' and get rid of programs that you are trying to delete.
To further speed up your computer:
3.) Get and run the freeware programs Ad-Aware, SpyBlaster, and / or Spybot - Search and Destroy. These will get rid of spyware and cookies.
4.) Click on the Start button (lower left on your monitor) / 'Run' then type in
msconfig
and hit 'OK'. Click the 'Startup' tab and just look at what is starting up when you turn on your computer. DO NOT DO ANYTHING HERE UNTIL YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING.
Every program that you load may try to get on this list, and the more on here the slower your system, because ALL of these are running in the background all the time. You WANT security software running, but - for example - I usually don't use Adobe Reader, or Quick Time, or two dozen others. So those I have UNchecked. IF I need them later, I can still launch them, but it is when I want them.

Hope this helps,
Good Luck!!

Additionally a registry cleaner will help speed up your PC. At some point you'll want to scan your disk for errors and then defragment the files on it, the defrag might help a little bit, but not much.

If you're not in love with the GUI, you can also set the GUI for performance ~vs~ eye candy.
