They do this by a trick called 'pulling wool over your eyes'...there are a lo of religious leaders that do this.
'Speaking in tongues' as an example, what are they saying? Did they record it, and can they prove that they were really speaking another language?
My gibberish is actually pretty good, but unless I was roaring drunk, I never thought qualified as a foreign language...
They whip people up into a state of emotional frenzy and then do weird things that can't be proven. It's a scam that's been used for centuries to gain money, power, and prestige.

By powerful, you mean 'convincing'...
Its all bullsh*t mate. The only way to heal physical injuries is through medicine and science.

Healing and deliverance are very real, they are accomplished by the power of God residing in ones life.
In which case, why is there not a single verified case of anyone being cured by 'God'? And no, spontaneous remission, with or without praying doesn't count.
Actually the power of healing and such were only recieved by the laying on of the hands of the Apostals. . . . . Maybe you should find out how old this guy is. . . he would have to be at least one thousand ninehundred and seventy seven years old. . . . Give or take a few years.
arachnid...
I beg to differ... there are multitudes of people that have received healing, thru faith in God, whether by the laying on of hands, or praying the prayer of faith, or thru the gifts of the Spirit, or intercessory prayer. God is not limited in the way he deals with his human family, and while rnealw, being Church of Christ, belives that healing passed away when the original apostles died, this is not mainstream belief. Many people and denominations today, believe and receive because of their belief. In just one case, of one small ministry that is devoted mainly to prayer, and has a special annointing for this, multitudes have received healing and deliverance from all kinds of things, they are located near us, and the man that founded the ministry is dead, but, the annointing is still upon the ministry, and I think it will remain as long as the ones running it today, continue their walk of holiness before God.
God does it through them
silverwings: If it's so common, why is there not a single reliably documented case that can unambiguously attributed to 'God'?
Remember, the plural of 'anecdote' is 'anecdotes', not 'data'.
