How do I get rid of permanent hair dye?

I died my hair black (out of the box sh*t) about 3 months ago. I don't want it anymore, and everytime I try to die it lighter, it just dies my roots and makes them stand out. How do I get rid of this black?!?!?!

I would go to a professional color specialist to get the right color and then go from there. It is a little bit of an investment but if you don't want to use bleach to lighten your hair, professional help might be the best solution to your hair issues.
