do research about puppies/dog and what is involved in raising them, and make plans to take care of the puppy. But mainly you have to show your parents you can be responsible. If you haven't been responsible than this will take a great deal of work, a new life style, not just a show. But if you have been responsible ask your parents for a mouse or something small and show that you can take care of an animal. Than once that happens they should be more open to the bigger animals such as puppies/dogs.
hope this helps
firstly. I totally want a puppy too. I love dogs, and I have one but its with my parents and I live away from home. Its a lot of work though. Its like a full time job, and you can't be away from them for a long time. They require constant care. If you are willing to go through all that then I would suggest finding pics of a puppy breed that you really like. Show it to them and, then really talk to them about wanting a puppy and how you will be taking care of it. Gluck!
First, you've got to get the whole family involved in the wanting part...which parent is the most approachable, do you think? Once you have a ally...then it's time to pick a breed that everyone can live with...I mean, if mom wants a little dog, a St. Bernard or a German Shepherd aren't in your near future.
The reluctance factor for parents here is...Depending on your furture plans, you might only be around for another couple of years...Dogs live 10 to 16 years...that's a LONG commitment for parents to make if this is just a whim on your part...
So...as much as you love dogs...if mom and dad don't see getting one, you will be (sooner than you realize) on your own...AND able to get one...on your own...
p
If you do your homework, and your chores and ask if there is anything else that needs to be done, that'll get you on their good side. Then check out puppy training books from the library and show them the books mentioning that you'd sure love to have one of your own...it might get the idea across...God bless
