How do i convert .avi to dvd format?

I downloaded a television series and I want to get it to play on a dvd player, but its all in .avi format and I think it needs to be converted to dvd format. Do I need to download a program to convert it like DivX or would it be something else?

If you have a sony computer, there will be a preinstalled software that will do it.

From reading, it sounds like dvx will do the trick as well.

DVD Santa might work...it will burn the .avi to a DVD and it will work in your DVD player

go to toptenreviews.com and look at the best video conversion program and go to your fav torrent site and download it or I mean you could buy it but what fun would that be. :-D
