How can I make my nails grow longer?

Is there any way to make my nails gorw longer? Like I am always biting them which is a habit for me, just recently I didnt bite them for about a week, and they grew, and last nite I cut them shorter, and well. I kust cannot gte into the habit of maing them get longer. Any ideas?
