what you need to do is STRIP the color from your hair, and THEN dye it blonde. However I bleached my naturally (as you can see in my picture) dark brown (auburn) hair, and it was platnum blonde after the bleaching. It took several boxes of blonde then THEN brown hair dye to get it to what resembled a normal blonde color.
If you REALLY don't want to go to the salon then I suggest buying several (since your hair is so long) at home bleaching kits, leave it on as long as possible, wrap your hair in foil with the bleach on it, and run a low hairdryer to help things along.
THEN redye your hair blonde, using however many boxes of hair dye you need to get it a normal color. Now sometimes bleaching then dying brown will work fine, as in my case, for SOME people I've heard it CAN turn their hair green... I would do this over several days. Bleach today and tomorrow (or tomorrow and the next day) wait a few days, and if you need to re-bleach, wait a few days THEN use hair dye.

Help get the red tint gone from my hair
Send me Fun Mail
My natural color is a very light brown, and in the summer I have always had natural red highlight. About 3 years ago I went to blonde, with no problem.. About a month ago I dyed my hair to a light brown, and I didn't like it.. 4 days ago I tried to dye my hair back to blonde, and now I have blonde at the bottom of my hair (my hair is about 2inches below the bra strap) and from the top to the middle is blonde with a strong red tint!! Please help! Anything I can do to get the tint gone, with out going to to the salon??? Would re dying my hair blonde help?
