If you're not muslim, you might not know that an Imam can pronounce a new law
I think that's really, really amazing. That way, people aren't living based on a book that is gajillions of years old. Their religion and codes can be updated to be more modern, and follow the times. Too bad Christianity isn't like that...maybe we could finally be allowed to mix linen and wool, which the Bible forbids.
lol.
I think this passage is a bit outdated too:
When men fight with one another, and the wife of the one draws near to rescue her husband from the hand of him who is beating him, and puts out her hand and seizes him by the private parts, then you shall cut off her hand. -- Deuteronomy 25:11-12
Might need to work on that...

It was a fatwa, in Egypt. Depending on which country you live in, what type of Islam you practice, etc, etc...just like with Christians, there are people all over the map
Ah, and editor...the book you quoted from is in the Christian book (bible) the Torah (Jewish book) and the Quran.
So, saying that the Muslims need to work on it is a bit unfair, *every* judeo-christian religion has that *same* passage. *all* of them need work, in other words, to follow your line of thought.
thedude,
I think you misunderstood. I was saying the *Christians* need to work on that, in reference to their outdated laws (ie. the fiber mixing and wife butchery).
And I never claimed that Judaism or Muslim religions *don't* need to work on anything, however, the fact that they *do* have ways to update their codes does provide them the flexibility to.
Dear BROTHER AND SISTER the basic concept in Islam is just like Christianity.
A TRUE CHRISTAN DONT OBAY THERE CHURCHES FATHER IF HE IS WRONG HE SHOULD USE HOLY BIBLE AND USE ALL THE GOOD THINKS JESUS (HAZRAT EASA PEACE BE UPON HIM) TELL THEM. JUST LIKE IT A GOOD MUSLIM DON'T OBEY A IMAM IF HE IS SAYING WRONG THINGS.HE USE HOLY QURAN AND PROPHET MUHAMMAD (PEACE BE UPON HIM) HADIS (HADIS MEANING HIS HIS TEACHINGS).. and yes alcohol is prohibited in islam.
