Go ask alice

Okay, so I just go finished reading the book Go Ask Alice.

I'm just wondering. Does anyone know if this is a true story? All the websites I've read say different things.

The book says it's based on an actual diary, but I've heard otherwise.

And does...

no it isnt.
I've read it and thought it was because they said on the cover it is but if you look on the publishing page it says its a fictional diary.
its still an amzing book though!

Since it says its 'based on' an actual diary, that means it doesn't necessarily mean that it is a true or exact story. It means that the basic story happened and that the details and other events were inspired by the story and probably not factual.

Also, it can be based on something and still be considered fiction.

David's Diary is another one like this...or even Girl, Interrupted...

Based on. That means its a fictional story taking ideas from someones life. Her story is like many people in her age tho, and nowadays too.
