Free tuition with death of a parent?

:] Asked by mrscobainx3 6 months ago, 3 answers.

my dad died when I was 4.my mom said she thought for some reason that since a parent died before the time I turned 18, that I got free college for any college in the state.it doesnt sound right to me..she said its part of social security or somethhing,...

and that I got that benefit because he died while I was young.
is she right, or am I still on my own for covering the cost of college?

That sounds fishy,he could have paid for everything before you actually made it to college, anything could be possible.

Your school guidance counsellor may have some answers for you. .
However, college is still very important if you are going to have a career, and not just a job.
