For girls who have asked mom for birth control only please!!

When I was 14 my mom and I had the sex talk for the first time and she keeps telling me one sentence from the whole talk when ever your ready to be sexually active let me and I will get you put on birth control. I have been with...

the same boyfriend for about 2 1/2 years. We have had sex before but im concerned because its getting kinda outa control now. I want to tell my mom that I want to be put on birth control the only problem is that shell tell my dad and if my dad knew he would take everything from me: my car, my license, my phone, my tv, my computer, and all my privacy. Im 16 now and really want to go on birth control. I kinda dont care if my dad knows because I hope that he would be happy that im being responsable about it. My mom is my best friend shes the only person I can trust with anything so I think my mom would be really cool about it but I dont want to just come out and say Mom I want to be on birth control that would be a little weird. I just dont know how to ask my mom at all.

If you have a doctor you can go see, you can just have the doctor give them to you. Your mom doesnt even really have to know, unless you just want her to know. And the doctor has to keep your info confidential if requested to do so. You said you have a car, so just call your doctor and go for an appointment. If you dont have a doctor you can go to a health dept. and they give you birth control, condoms, etc... If you wanna tell your mom, I would just say mom I would like to visit the doctor and get all the info on the different types of birth control and that you would like to go ahead and get them so that way if you ever decide to be sexually active you will already be prepared.

yeah you can go to the health department and they will give them to you for free and you wont have to tell your mother...unless ya want. and also make sure you are taking them right if not they don't work...aka time and date and everything like you can't keep skipping days or oops baby. hope everything goes well :]

I am a mom and am dealing with the same thing with my sixteen year old. She is not sexually active yet, but what I told my girls is that they needed to get on it if there is a chance they might. it takes time to get into your system and to work. Your dad sounds like my husband. When I told him she wanted on it he started hating her boyfriend and saying he would beat the crap out of him. Here is the bottom line after reading your story for me. I stand between my husband and the girls and will not let him punish them. I ended up pregnant at sixteen and do not want that for them. I think if your mom is the best friend that you say she is then she will do what is right for you when it comes to your dad. I try to be really good friends with my kids but I don't think they would classify me as best friend. So you have it good. Just think of the future and how you want it to play out. If you are sure that you will lose everything then stay away from the sex. I know once you try it you want to keep experimenting, but you have to decide what is really important and how it has to be.
