You can get one from a rescue group.

Go to www.petfinder.com

Then, use their search to search for ferrets (click small and furry, then click breed and then click Ferrets) and then put in your zip code. It will show you ferrets that are near your area that are in need of rescue from a shelter or private rescue group. They need a home!

adopt one. http://www.petfinder.com, as said above, is a really great site. I have two ferrets -- they're awesome! =D

a lot of times, people don't know how much care a ferret requires, or they move and they have to put their ferrets up for adoption. Try looking on advertising websites, or look in other adoption centers, like Rosy Animal Adoption, etc.

I encourage you to get a ferret only as long as you can give it at least 20 minutes of playing a day, and that you can take good care of it. Ferrets aren't usual pets, so you'll have to find a vet that specialises in ferrets or exotic pets, because you can't give cat or dog medicine to a ferret, the results can be fatal. You shouldn't get a ferret if you do a lot of travelling, unless you know someone who is willing to take care of your pet while your away, better yet, try to find someone who already has a ferret that yours gets along with, and they can be play buddies while you're gone.

Good luck finding your ferret!

You could contact a breeder but usually they do not sell them unless they are fixed.

You can look for private breeders, check shelters - http://www.supportourshelters.org/SOS-ShelterList.html for a list - try petfinder or craigslist. Sometimes you can even find them looking through the ads in your local paper.
