how old is he/she? if its a baby its undertsnadable if its an adult u need to show hows boss and tell him no

Answer #2

4yrs old…. other one is 2yrs old…. and they don’t listen no matter how much I say no! I scruff them and say “No!” and then take them away and try to distract them but they are obsessed with the door!!! I’ve wagged my finger at them, put them in the small cage, threw can w/ pennys near them…. everything

Answer #3

Classical conditioning. Pair the act of scratching the carpet with something unpleasant, like spraying them with water a few times while saying no (loudly) and then removing them from the where they were scratching. After a while they will pair the scratching with the water spray (which they don’t like) and they wont do it anymore. But you have to be consistent. By taking them and ‘distracting them’ you are probably giving them lots of attention, which is actually rewarding them for that behavior, and causing it to occur more often.

Answer #4

Oh, and you have to use whatever punishment your going to use WHILE they are in the act, they wont understand if its after and then they wont make the connection, so it wont work.
