lol, wings would be nice, but considering we already have planes, I doubt it will happen...
actually considering we no longer have survival of the fittest (I.e the strongest, fastest, biggest, or even the smartest) because we have so much medication, technology, and other stuff... I dont know if we can predict how we're going to evolve...

I know people are already taller and 'smarter' than they were 100 years ago, but that has more to do with an increase in standard of living, food, etc, than it does to evolving...

so who knows?

excuse me? how does science prove it incorrect? and which scientists say it is a fun story?

This will cause some sparks, I'm not real sure though, I mean the only way I could think of humans getting better would be for us to get stronger and smarter and maybe grow wings.

eww, wings? nasty.
evolution is not possible anyway, it is a theory, and actually, science proves it incorrect. its just a fun story, scientists say...

Frankly, I doubt that human beings will evolve any further physically unless it's by choice through the use of genetic engineering (such as depicted in the book 'Man After Man') or unless the world changed dramatically due to some kind of cataclysmic event. As an example, if there were a dramatic rise in the earth's temperature which caused most or all of the land to vanish underwater, perhaps human beings might be forced to evolve into an aquatic form of life. However, I think it's possible that we could still evolve further socially, mentally, and/or emotionally -- becoming smarter, more considerate of each other as individuals, and better at resolving problems such as poverty and so forth. The reason why I think we won't evolve any further physically is because most animals evolve physically in response to changes in their environment which may affect their potential for survival. However, since human beings are more than capable of changing the environment to suit themselves, it seems to me that this would remove the incentive to evolve physically.

I don't think there's anything for us to really adapt to at the moment to require evolving. also, humans and the earth might not be around long enough for another stage of evolution to be possible. if anything, we'll be around long enough to null out races. and maybe if we're not totally annihilated after the extremes of global warming, we'll have a crap new environment to adapt to and evolve for. but I can't imagine what the world will be like by then so I don't have an idea of how humans should evolve for then.

and yeah, wings are groovy. :]

I agree with ty. Our ability to reason, and to feel compassion, eliminates survival of the fittest, so physical evolution may not change much. But we still have natural selection to an extent, and it may still have an affect on human evolution when measured over tens of thousands of years. I think if we do evolve, it will be less physical, and more to do with intelligence and life span.

We don't use our legs much any more. People hardly walk, even to the corner store. They could end up as weak little flippers...

'evolution is not possible anyway, it is a theory, and actually, science proves it incorrect. its just a fun story, scientists say...'

and you base this answer on???
I am a scientist and I don't say that. neither does my md/phd husband nor his colleagues.

ty and jimahl are on what seems to be the correct path and, hopefully, our 'evolution' will be regarding intelligence and life span.

but wings would be cool. the ultimate solution to our dependence on oil. lol.

I agree with amoeba but do wonder if we will evolve in ways to help us deal with our high calorie, high fat diets. Obviously, fast food isn't going away.

Human evolution will cease in the near future, either because we will destroy ourselves, or because we will conquer our own DNA.

I would hope that with evolved intelligence we would stop eating fatty fast food because if we didn't, our evolved wings wouldn't be able to lift our fat butts off the ground.

Being a Christian and reading thru all these interesting and inventive answers I just have to laugh out loud, not out of disrespect, only out of my own beliefs according to the Bible.

When Jesus Christ's second coming happens (which will be very soon), all His people will be perfected in His image, meaning made completely beautiful and perfect in every way...physically, intelligence, spiritual...it'll be awesome!

Well, darwin's theory states that the environment doesn't adapt to the organisms living in it, the organisms living in an environment adapt to it and all of its changes... so, basically that means that something drastic would have to change in our environment... and we have our environment so man-altered... it won't change very vastly for a longgg time.
