How to tell my mom that I'm emo?

How can I tell mi mum that am an emo???

wow thats a hard one ..
I use to be emo.. and I kept it a secret from my mom from a long time ... she ended up finding out ..
if you want to tell your mom you have to have a good reson why.. if you dont and you just say your hurting urself for no reason she might be hurt..
and if your doing it because of something your family or her did then you should definatly tell her.. and talk to her about it..

Doesn't emo mean emotional? If thats right, then im sure she already knows.

Emo is a genre of music, so you can't be emo.
you can be down in the dumps though, just let her know you aren't yourself and you think you need to talk to someone about it.

Why does everyone think emo automatically means cutting? I have a friend who cuts herself, but she is the farthest things from emo. Please don't tell me it just means emotional because there is a stereo type for emo people (Dark clothing, fake depression, fake suicide notes, wanting attenion). Also people who self harm do occasionally talk about it and come foward. So if someone says they do or wants to talk about it, it doesn't automatically mean they are lieing.

Emo is a personality, trust me I know. Im not a true emo yet, but I've researched enough about it, I know. Also, being emo does have to do with being gay. It just means that you have feelings for everyone.

emo also is a music genre. Dashboard Confesionals is reccomended.

I want to be emo, but for some reason I just cant tell m sister to pirate me Dashboard Confesionals, and let my mom die my red hair black, (Ihate my hair), and let me get dark clothes. I have a similar problem as emogirl.

Did your parents do something to you? Emo is all about depression and unhappiness. Did they do something that makes you deserve becoming emo? If you have a loving family, great life, and friends, then what is the point? Be yourself and stop labelling.
