How to help a dog's dry and cracking nose?

my friends dog has a dry and cracking nose, what could it be and what could we do for it?

he's probably sick. you should set up a humidafyer in a room that hes in and just make sure hes not working too hard. (excersizing and such)
dont put any lotions or anything on it, that could hurt him.

Take him to the vet...this may be an allery, or it may just be humidity...It must be awfully painful, tho...The vet can give you a 'pet friendly' ointment, that may help keep his nose from cracking until the cause is found.

if it's nose is so dry it's cracking get that dog to a vet!! a wet nose is a main sign of a healthy dog!!
