Dog needs help!!

Asked by stresshead 25 days ago, 5 answers.

Our dog might have to be put down as he has killed so many neighbours chickens and cats, and he is an escape artist, he can jump over 2metre fences and pull up chicken wire with his teeth! Ok im making him sound viscous now but to people he is the most...

sweetest and least aggressive dog! We found him as a stray and some sort of ridgeback/ possible boxer cross or something like that. We've tried a backpack with sand to weigh him down, and we cover up each escape route but he finds others, he chews through leads, and if left tied up would probably get stuck! We are going to try an electric fence but does anyone have any ideas as it will break my heart if we have to put him down as he is such a healthy dog! Please help!

Take him to a dog trainer right now. ASPCA has training courses. Make sure that you tell them what the situation is and they will try to direct you to a class that might help save your dogs life.

Good Luck!!

You might try the Dog Whisperer.

Shocky collar? They sell kits that have stakes you drive into the ground and if the dog goes past them he gets a zap.

Exercise him a lot, drain his excess energy so that when he returns home he will instinctively go into a resting state of mind. Haha I love the dog whisperer!!!
lol
Find a trainer as well
All the best!!!

Thank you so much for your help!
one problem is that my family is very busy at the moment (eg; we also have horses to look after, amoung other things), so we often can't excersise him as often as we'd like!

Maybe you could hire a dog walker? It would really help if your dog got a lot of exercise because it drains the excess energy which the dog may then direct into negative behaviours such as the ones that you are describing.

All the best!!!
