Does smoking increase your metabolism?

I already have a fast matabolism and I started smoking around 4 months ago. I have been told that smoking increases your matabolism, so does this mean mine will be doubly as fast? If so, if I do decide to quit, will my I return to my “normal” fast rate of matabolism or will it have decreased as a result of smoking. Thanks xxx

It’s quit, not “quite”.

Welcome to FunAdvice - thanks for posting! Yep, it does increase your metabolism - however, smoking is really, really bad. The best time to quite smoking is always now. And yes, I’ve known people who quite, and I’ve never heard somebody say it was anything less than extremely difficult. My mom quite after she had some severe health problems and her metabolism slowed after she stopped, and she gained about 30 pounds. I’d seriously suggest thinking of quitting before it damages anything long term… Though for good medical advice, I’d recommend talking to a doctor, etc - good luck.
