Does semi-permanent hair dye damage your hair in any way?

My real hair color is black with a little bit of dark brown in it and I wanted to dye it this golden brown or maybe a medium brown color.I need to know if I use semi permanant hair dye will it effect my hair in any kind of way! (cause breakage,...

well technically it will damage your hair, because putting ANYTHING in your hair, even brushing it, with cause damage. but the amount of damage caused from 1 use of semi-permanent dye is so so microscopic it's basically nothing at all.

BUT besides that, you should know that if you use semi permanent hair dye on your dark brown/ black, it will do nothing. Nothing as in, no color will show up in your hair. it'll still be dark. not even if you use permanent dye. if you want to lighten dark hair you have to bleach it first. OR get highlights, and gradually build up to a lighter shade over time. So.. you're pretty much screwed. Sucks for us dark haired folk.
