Here's what we can do. You know all that money we spend on nuclear weapons and defense every year? Trillions of dollars. Instead, if we spent that money feeding,educating,and clothing the poor of the world, which it would pay many times over not one...

I'm srry but there is no heaven...and the only reason that no one will agree is because Bill HIcks was never president...he should have been president...the world would have been a better place

well for all of those guns and weapons they have to use those in wars!
and battles!
So if the people who sre fighting have no weapons then...Well they will die!

And Well my opinion is that if you think that the wars aren't important or anything like tha then...Well it's just not good!!
and yeah I also agree that clothing and food is impotant too for the less fortunate!!

but if we were all one peaceful race there would be no need for weapons because there would be no war.

The only way to have peace is to oppress people and force them to be peaceful...

People are not innately peaceful. Even if everyone was equal (anyone remember the goals of communism?) some people would want more.
Even if everyone was fed and had a home, people would want more...
There has never been a completely equal society, and there never will be...
At the end of the day people are animals, and survival of the fittest is how animals survive...

The US spends about $300,000,000,000 on defense every year, not trillions. You could argue that's way too much, but I think most of us would agree that $0 is way too little, so it's not like we could just funnel all of it to 'the poor'.

The reason we spend so much on nuclear weapons is simple...power. It has been that way for ever in history because realistically the more powerful countries have prospered . There will always be conflict or war in the world we will never be able to maintain peace because peoples values and opinions are different it's a fact of life. Because of this people clash and sadly wars start over simple issues that could be solved if society was more optomistic.

do you people not see how many innocent lives are lost because of war and weapons...yeah there will always be conflict but with out massive weapons there wouldn't be innocent lives lost...and maybe if the leaders of different countries sat down and talked things over there wouldn't be war...but since they have weapons..which seems easier..sitting down and talking things out or blowing up the other country..of course they are going to blow up the other country because they think it will be faster...toadaly-and about the poor why did you put it in qoutations...maybe if you looked past everything you have you would realize that there are starving people out there..there are stariving people in other countries too...but because some people don't get off their lazy butt and try to help people in other countries..no one else does because then think it's not that important...if people just for half an hour put themselves in the outher persons shoes maybe then they will know how it feels...but no people these days are just like well it's not me so what do I care...the people of today are cold hearted and won't go out of their way to help someone else...and because some people won't do it influences others not to do it.

I put 'the poor' in quotes, because it's a politicized expression generally used by those hoping to promote class conflict.

If you mean 'starving', then say 'starving' rather than 'the poor'.

There is a differnce between poor and starving. 'Poor' does not imply deprivation. It only implies relative affluence. Most who are starving are poor (excluding anorexia etc.), but not everyone who is poor is starving.

if you are poor you have no money to buy food...so yes you starve if you are poor...I've been poor and homeless so I know what I'm talking about

As general rules:
- everyone who is starving is destitute
- not everyone who is destitute is starving (some are homeless yet are able to eat )
- everyone who is destitute is poor
- not everyone who is poor is destitute (many of the poor have jobs, homes, food, etc)
- not everyone who is poor is starving
