Depression is not associated with age but depends on biological, psychological, and social factors . But as we get older we may face more problems that can cause depression. So depression can affect many as they get older but I don't think its guaranteed.
well .
people get depressed about certain things ...
like , my dad is depressed atm about work ..
people are normally depressed arfter leaving a partner , having a baby , work , loosing someone they love ect . saying people get depressed as they get older is a bit of a blanket statment because not everyone does , it always has a reason behind it x
I think
Certainly not true of all, and I suspect not true of most - sadness, grief, for a period of time, yes but not acute depression.
I never said 'old', I said 'older'--however, to answer the question: I consider someone 'old' whenever they consider him/herself old. Age is a number, but aging happens to all of us.

Is it normal for older people to be depressed?
Someone told me that it is normal for people to become depressed as they get older. Is this true? I mean, it can't be true for all people, don't you think it's too much of a 'blanket' statement?
