Q: Is cruise travel insurance worth the cost?

My family is planning a cruise later this year and the travel agent is recommending that we buy travel insurance. The prices for the cruise are not bad, but when you add on the cost of the insurance it starts to get a little pricey.

A: Travel insurance is worth it for "piece of mind" if nothing else. When we traveled recently to another country, it was one of the requirements for entry for my wife's visa. Our health insurance plan included a "reimbursement option" which didn't fit the requirements, but by shopping around, we were able to get pretty cheap travel insurance (my wife did the shopping, else I could mention the company). Try searching around & get quotes from a few companies, the travel agent might be price gouging or at least not giving you the best deal.

A: In today’s world, with the possibility of unforeseen accidents or events like hurricanes, having travel insurance is such a valuable asset for you and your family. I recommend looking into a third party vendor like AIG Travel Guard. You can often get more coverage from a third party and it's less expensive. Travel Guard has plans in all shapes and sizes to cover your trip and it doesn’t have to cost you an arm or a leg. You can get a quote at ww.travelguard.com.

A: Travel Insurance is not compulsory, but highly recommended. It's all about risk. Don't take any out if you don't want to. But if you fall ill or have an accident abroad then be prepared for a very hefty bill. http://funadvice.com/r/bs1dltchava
