What is the role of critical thinking in persuasion?

Hi,

Well, this is kind of abstract as a question. But if you’re trying to persuade someone, you need to have facts and argue your point. This could involve thinking very quickly and “on the ball” if the other person makes a good point against you. You need to be on your toes, thinking critically to respond to them and get them to believe that YOUR SIDE is the right side.

If you ever watch any law shows on TV, you’ll see that the lawyers will often be put in situations they did not expect–but they still must persuade the jury to pick their side. This requires them to think critically to come up with information on the spot to argue their point.
