Critical reasoning basically asks one to think and argue rationally. Therefore, in persuasion, critical thinking is applied by persuading rationally.

Example of a critically persuasive argument:
*It is cold outside.
*When it is cold outside, one should turn on the heat.
*It is cold outside; therefore I should turn on the heat.

In the above example, the argument is that the heat should be turned on because it is cold. It follows logically.

Illogical Argument:
*It is cold outside.
*When it is cold outside, one should turn on the heat.
*In is cold ouside, therefore I should move to Florida.

Although moving to Florida because it is cold may be rational, the argument is not rational because it does not follow. No support is given for moving to Florida.

Simply said, support your claim. Don't merely generalize or offer opinions.
