Yes, she has the right. It's not uncommon for parents to be unsympathetic to a child's desire to attend religious service other than that of the family.

I wonder how many of the above posters would anser the same way if you were wiccan and wanting to go to a New Moon celebration instead of a Christian church.

Do I think it is right, well no... but she does have a legal right to do it... when you're independent you can do whatever you like...

YES... taking away an activity you enjoy IS justified.

I don't think it's right. they should ground you from other stuff, like something useless that you could'nt possibly live without.. maybe t.v. or something. church should be free for anyone who's everyone whenever.

It is right. You are leaving the house. When you are grounded you are not aloud to leave the house. Church counts as leaving your house, unless the church is in your house. Which I doubt.

Religious freedom. It's a right in the US. It's just sad that we're so conservative about enforcing anything about the constitution, especially when it comes to children.

It's wrong, and I would be careful, because it might be an attempt at trying to seperate you from your chosen religion. I'm going to go out on a limb, and say that your family is no-religion, or at least Atheist. Am I wrong?

does your mom have the right to ground you from church? yes, legally she has the right to do pretty much whatever she wants as long as she feeds you, clothes you, and puts a roof over your head. should she ground you from church? no. it's kind of a douchebag move, to take away something you do as a sacrifice for your beliefs in a higher power. bummer...sorry man.

Apparently God has called you to be a witness to your family. This is hard, but not impossible. God feels you are up to it, or he wouldn't be asking you to do this.

I would suggest that you ask for prayer continually for each member of your family, also that you pray that God would soften their hearts toward allowing you to go, in addition to opening them to the truth.

Do what they ask , as they are your parents, and it is Gods will that you be obedient. pray for the needed change. Read and study Gods word, so that you will know how Jesus wants you to act and live. Read esp. the first 4 books of the New Test. God will help you, I will be praying for you, and asking for prayer for you.

God bless... hang in there...

No, that isn't right , they should ground you from other things ,
and leaving the house has nothing to do with being grounded , because how can you go to school if you're grounded from outside ?

no...I really dont think that is fair for YOU. everyone has there own beliefs and as a christian you strive to be christlike, and im really sorry that you are going through that...but, also as a christian you just need to act like it doesnt bother you, and continue to respect your mom, and im sure next time she will let you go...just remain humble seeking God through prayer..really all you can do is pray for your mom..are you a new bible learner?
