Blood tests?

Charon, Hydra, and Nix Asked by bbbb about 1 year ago, 1 answer.

I got a blood test two days ago. I don't like blood tests and I haven't gotten one in a while. I know that the average human has 5 liters of blood in them. How much blood does a normal blood test extract from a person? How long does it take for the...

body to make the blood lost in a blood test? Does the blood test have negative effects on your body? Does it damage the vein that the needle is injected into? Does it leave a permanent mark on your arm? How much blood can you donate without feeling sick or dying? How much blood can be legally extracted at one time? If your body is continously extracting blood how does it stay at five liters? How long does it take blood to be remade, from the blood that is lost through a blood test? Please answer these questions, I am very anxious to know, because my arm just feels like the vein is damaged. Please answer this question!

You really need to chill out...
You're a male, you have about 6 liters
They take out like a 1-2 teaspoons, that's a couple of 5-10ml...
that's 0.008% of your blood
It takes 24-48 hours to replenish
No there arent negative effects (apart from maybe a bruise which should clear up in 2-3 days)
Yes the vein is punctured, but again, it's a tiny hole! and it mends in a day or two
No permanent marks
Ok now donating without feeling sick or dying is a complicated question, when you donate they take about a pint (you've got about 12 pints), I think that's the legal limit...
Without feeling sick, my guess is maybe 1.5 pints
Without dying, I dont know, but I've lost maybe 3 pints before and Im still alive...
Your body continuously makes blood cells...
Again, 24-48 hours your blood should be remade...

Ok now the odds of the vein being damaged are low. Most doctors/nurses know what they are doing, but it really shouldnt be hurting that bad, and if the bruising is bad or if it isnt getting better then you may want to go see a dr...
