Can I wear black shoes with a navy suit?

Is it ok to wear black dress shoes with a navy suit?

Black dress shoes with navy suits have been traditionally used by men in the US, but I personally think that brown shoes are more appropriate. There is more of a contrast between the colors. And make sure your belt matches!!!

I think Black shoes are appropriate. definitely wear a black belt though and maybe a black tie or a black shirt
