Legally, you must be the 'age of majority' for your state (usually 18) or become emancipated:
Emancipation refers to the point at which a child is free from parental control.
Emancipation may be the result of a voluntary agreement between the parents and child, or it may be implied from their acts and ongoing conduct. For example, a child who leaves her parents' home and becomes ENTIRELY SELF-SUPPORTING without their objection is considered emancipated, while a child who goes to stay with a friend or relative and gets a part-time job is not. Emancipation may also occur when a minor child marries or enters the military.
In order to become emancipated you must be able to answer the above questions and be self supporting which means:
- Have a job
- Live in home or apartment
- pay bills
Contact the Court office or a Professional Attorney in your immediate area for further assistance.
I wish you the best !!
In ohio I can't be emancipated unless I get married , which takes parents consent, or go into the army which also takes consent ... I do work 6 days a week, I think that should be enough to live on my own .. Not to sure though .. Also my understanding is that to get an apartment Id have to be 18 ?
So basically I can't rent / buy any where to live because im not 18 and I cant get my parents consent for anything so I can't be entirely self-supporting?

Can i be emancipated in ohio at 16?
Emancipation at 16 in ohio ??
Okay so my life at home might not sound so bad .. But I hate it ..
I recently moved away from my moms house into my dads, because my mom and I were always fighting and yelling .. That court process took about a year. I...
offically moved into my dads about 6 months ago probally. But now my dad and I are starting to really fight .. I would say he harasses me, like just always on my back about stuff.. Over the summer I did something I know I shouldn't of down .. But still not trusting me 6 months later is a little much .. I said I was going to stay at a friends house and went to my girlfriends house for the night instead. I got into some big trouble that night so he never lets me spend the night anywhere .. Recently I worked a double shift and came home and found out my moms mom (my grandmother) passed away. I woke up the next day and was about to head to another double shift and my dad asks me something and I give him that moan I dont want to talk right now, and he just starts going off on me .. I came home for my hour break and he started yelling at me how he doesnt deserve to be treated like that and all this other stuff. I had to rush to work leaving stuff on the table, I came home from work found that my clothes were all over my room and that food I left out on the table was now all over my new 80$ keyboard.. I usually get 25$ a week for lunch now he gives me 10$ .. He has yet to buy me new clothes, I have 1-2 pairs of jeans ... Probally 1 month ago I was like 2seconds away from running away, I had my bags backed and everything. He saw that I had my bags backed and went out and did something to MY car, the car is in my name .. I didnt think that was allowed .. He said if I'd leave he would call the cops. So I stayed.
I would run away and just go live with my girlfriend but I'm pretty sure thats 100% illegal ..
Now I want to get an emancipation but I don't think I'm able to because I live in Ohio ... I don't want to go live with my mom .. I dont want to live with my dad .. I dont want to go into any sort of foster care. And I don't really want to move in with a friend but if I have to do that I will .. I think I might be able to support my own rent and other necessities .. I work a lot ..
I don't know what to do ... Someone please help or give me advice .. I really need it ...
