American cuisine suggestions to make for some german friends?

Thunder Robot Asked by funadvice 2 months ago, 6 answers.

My landlords are German and they've made several traditional German meals for me. I'd like to return the favor by cooking them something traditionally American. I'm having trouble deciding what to make, because I don't want my traditional American meal to be hot dogs, hamburgers, and macaroni and cheese.

I'm leaning toward Southern barbecue...any other suggestions for something uniquely American that I could make?

I think your idea is a good one. South West dishes are quite American, and the German diet will not find it too adventurous.

Fried Chicken, buscuits and gravy, or cornbread with honey butter. Maybe some collards or butter beans on the side. Sweet potato pie, or cinnimon apples will be just sweet enough for dessert.
