Is this considered patient abandonment?

I am an LPN in the state of Georgia. I have accepted another job in which I start on the 25th of february. I have not given my current employer my notice because I need to make sure that my reference checks are all completed, etc..on thursday february...

21st I am going to give my boss a note stating that today is my last day. my question is,
IS THIS CONSIDERED PATIENT ABANDONMENT EVEN THOUGH I AM GOING TO FINISH OUT THE DAY. please someone help me with this. I need advice

Hi,

It is likely considered patient abandonment. You'll be finishing out your day but it's considered legal and proper etiquette to give your employer two weeks notice before your last day of work so he/she can train and replace you.
