Why do my parents refuse to let me have a life?

Asked by duelover 8 months ago, 2 answers.

Well My parents refuse me to let me sleep over for about 3 days with a friend to go to a family party for her oldest brother. Usually when you think of a guy turning 19 that there are going to be a lot of teenage boys, but no its a family party its going to be a couple of his close friends maybe just his girlfriend and a bunch of adults there. A family party so that means it will be supervised at all times by adults and there will be kids my age and probably younger to. They refuse to let me go even though they have met my friends parents and her siblings and have met some of their family to. My questions are any good ways to pursuade them to let me go? I'll tell you a little bit about my personality to, I m generally a good kid screw up here and there but who doesnt, the screw ups arn't extreme either there actually nothing at all oh yeah I m a girl to. I have a 3.0 average and I m 14 and a freshmen. I do as I m told and pretty much a good kid but why do they refuse to let me have a life?

Well, I suspect that the three day sleepover might have something to do with it. That's a bit of a long time for a birthday party. :-)

Perhaps your friend's parents could call your parents to assure them that the party will be supervised by adults at all times and to let them know exactly who is going to be attending?

I'd also not push for the 3 day sleepover. Maybe just go to the party itself and stay only one night with your parent's permission?

I understand that it's a family party, but I have to be honest...if I had a 14 year old daughter, I don't think I'd let her go off for 3 days to attend a party...and I think I'm a pretty cool guy. LOL!

In any event, hope it all works out for you. :-)

To me, daughter 14 and female - that alone is a reason to be extremely cautous, especially in this day and time - obviously your parents love you, look after your best interests, and CARE - many, many, many, have parents who do not - I'd be thankful...Take care !!
