If John MCaine wins, would Mitt Romney accept VP?
Since Mitt Romney decided not to continue with the presidency, I was just wondering if that would be possible to have him as VP.

Jimahl, it is true that McCain needs to appease his conservative base (although the way the Dems are going, he may not need to try that hard). And I do think he will pick someone from the right, rather than the left as some seem to think. However, I think he would pick other strong conservatives above Romney. From what I gather, they're still pretty pissed at each other and McCain doesn't forgive easily. In fact, I doubt that he'd pick any of his Republican rivals.

The Minnesota governor Pawlenty and the Florida governor Crist seem like strong possibilities right now.

Don't be so sure McCain won't ask him. It will appease much of the conservative base. And mittens would definately accept it. It would set him up for another run in 2012 after McCain loses.

I think he will ask Romney because it’s a smart move. McCain does have a reputation for holding a grudge--this would tame his image and heal the party. Romney also has a strong base--flush with cash. Romney can deliver Michigan--an important swing state with almost as many delegates as Florida.

And Romney has already proven he can put the party in front of himself, where others, like Huckabee, have proven otherwise (remember, Huckabee said he did not major in math, he majored in miracles). We need someone that majored in economics, and Romney is strong with the economy.

I think old man McCoot is totaly beholden now to the neocons, and will do whatever they decide. Any grudge or hard feelings is moot at this point.

I think it is very likely it will be mittens.
